Speculation about the flow of water on Mars have been circulating from year to year. But in a latest NASA study revealed that water once flowed on Mars did thousands of years ago.
Using spacecraft Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, NASA found evidence that the surface of Mars was once covered by a layer of ice is very large. However, the ice sheets melted due to volcanic eruptions.
To prove this, Sheridan Ackiss from Purdue University using mineral mapping sensor belongs to the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter to investigate the composition of the surface of the red planet.
"An arrangement of stones can tell a lot of things. By examining rocks, we can see how volcanoes are formed," said Ackiss.
Scientists investigated the Sisyphi Montes region extending from about 55 degrees to 75 degrees south latitude. The area is believed to be the place berapai mountain is located.
Separately, the research on Mars in March revealed that the massive eruption occurred earlier than we imagine. Through a series of computer simulations, the eruption is estimated to occur between 3.1 billion and 3.7 billion years ago.
This study helped reveal that the valley was on Mars is a former river flows, and perhaps there is a previous life. Similarly, as quoted by the Daily Mail, Thursday (05/05/2016).
